Fall-Like Weather Continues…
August 31, 2009

As we wrap up August… it feels very much like we’re well into Autumn.  In fact… our high of 69 on Sunday was the first time since 2004 that we had a high temperature only in the 60s during the month of August.  Those are “average” highs for the first week of October!  Today’s expected [...]

Wet Wednesday!!
August 26, 2009

Omaha came into Wednesday with a rainfall deficit of 3.60″ year-to-date… but that number will be much lower by Thursday morning.  In fact… we’ve been running a precipitation deficit since the beginning of 2009… with the greatest deficit being 6.01″ back on June 5th.  Another way of looking at THAT… however… we’ve had a SURPLUS of [...]

Warm… For Now…
August 24, 2009

After a weekend of unseasonably cool weather (a near record low Saturday morning and highs in the upper 70s)… look for a brief warm-up to start the work-week.  South to southeasterly winds will take us into the upper 80s on Monday… with some locations west of Omaha (from Norfolk and Lincoln into central Nebraska) rising [...]

An Early Hint of Fall
August 20, 2009

A cold front that produced isolated severe storms in southeast Nebraska late Wednesday… as well as periods of rain showers across the viewing area… has ushered in much cooler and drier weather to close out our work-week.  Here are some of the rainfall amounts from Wednesday:
Bellevue (Offutt AFB): .34″
Blair: .58″
Fremont: .48″
Lincoln: .33″
Millard: .65″
Omaha (Eppley Airfield): .63″
Plattsmouth: [...]

Calm Before The Storm
August 18, 2009

After some early morning showers… Monday ended with nearly Top Ten Day conditions (lots of sunshine, light winds, mild temperatures, and low humidity levels).  Outside of some clouds early in the day… Tuesday will be nice as well… albeit slightly warmer (with highs in the lower 80s).
Things will change Tuesday night… as clouds will be [...]

Back to School…
August 13, 2009

As students head back to school (this week and next)… thoughts usually turn to football practices and fall-like weather.  While the former is in full gear… especially for the Huskers down in Lincoln… we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the latter.  Thursday marked our second day in a row with highs in the 90s… [...]

Nice Summer Week Ahead…
August 11, 2009

While we’ll see a gradual warming trend into the next weekend… with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s for the remainder of the week… it will be a stretch of relatively nice late Summer weather.  And though we could still use some moisture (we remain more than 4″ below “normal” year-to-date)… we did pick [...]

Turning Hot… Soon…
August 6, 2009

After hitting the 90s to start this work-week… we’ve been in the middle 80s for highs the past couple of days… and clouds will keep us around that again on this Thursday.  A warm front to our south… however… will change our weather significantly over the next 24 hours.
As that front lifts northward Thursday evening… [...]

Stormy Morning… For Some…
August 4, 2009

First off… we’ve received many questions concerning the temperatures that are expected for August.  The bottom line… look for much more typical Summertime weather through at least mid-August (i.e, upper 80s and 90s for highs)… with higher humidity levels as well.  The increased heat and humidity will also bring more chances for thunderstorms.
While on the [...]
