After a couple of cloudy/cool days… with highs stuck in the 60s… look for a big warm-up as we close out the work-week. Outside of some early morning clouds… we’ll see lots of sunshine this Thursday, which will let our temperatures rise back into the upper 70s. Combine that with light winds and low humidity… [...]

A (Temporary) Cool Down…
May 26, 2009
Monday marked our eighth day in a row with highs in the 80s… but clouds along with a few showers will keep us much cooler for Tuesday and Wednesday. The clouds and rain are the result of two separate low pressure systems… both of which will mostly miss our area.
The first system… which moved out [...]
Memorial Day Weather
May 25, 2009
After a warm and (somewhat) humid weekend… expect more of the same on this Memorial Day. Right now we’re between two weather systems (more on those in a bit)… which will keep us around 80 for a high today with a mix of sun and clouds. In addition… we’ll see a chance of showers popping [...]
Not As Warm… Not As Windy…
May 21, 2009
After 3 days of sunny, windy, and (very) warm weather… get ready for some big changes as we head into the Memorial Day weekend. This Thursday will still be mild to warm… but we’ll also see quite a bit more clouds. On the plus side… we won’t have to contend with the strong winds that [...]
Windy & Warm…
May 19, 2009
Well… we finally hit the 80s in Omaha on Monday… with a high of 84. Gusty south winds will take us even higher today and tomorrow… with highs in the upper 80s… more than 10 degrees above average for mid-May.
A cold front will drop across the area on Thursday… taking us back into the 70s [...]
Mild May (so far…)
May 18, 2009
While we haven’t had an over-abundance of “Top Ten Days” so far this month… it hasn’t been horrible either. Unless… of course… you’re someone who REALLY loves the warmth or heat. We haven’t hit 80 yet this May… in fact… we haven’t been warmer than 79 since April 24th… when we saw a high of 89… [...]
Mild Spring Weather…
May 15, 2009
A cold front that brought some much needed rain early Wednesday morning has ushered in cooler weather to close out the work-week. Highs will be at (or below) average through Friday… and even a bit cooler over the weekend.
About our latest rain event… Omaha’s Eppley Airfield reported a total of 1.11″ of precipitation from Tuesday [...]
Thirsty Lawns…
May 12, 2009
While we’ve seen periods of rain over the past several weeks… most of it has been on the light side. So far in 2009… Omaha has picked up only 4.35″ of precipitation… which is 3.77″ below average year-to-date.
Late this afternoon… showers (and even a few thunderstorms) will pop up across the area… especially from the [...]
Nice Start to the Week !!
May 11, 2009
Outside of some early morning patchy fog… we’re looking at terrific weather to start this work-week. We’ll see plenty of sunshine… low humidity… and highs in the 70s this Monday… “almost” a Top Ten Day!! The only outlier for “Top Ten” criteria will be the winds. While it won’t be a windy day… winds will [...]
Wednesday Storm Reports
May 7, 2009
While Wednesday afternoon was pleasant in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro… with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s… some strong (to severe) storms were just to our east. The strongest storm initially formed just north-northeast of Omaha… producing nickle-sized hail (.88″) 1 mile east of Neola (IA). It strengthened as it moved southeast… [...]
