Watching the latest regional radar trends… I’m going to say 3″ to 6″ in the metro… with most spots getting 4 to 5″. I’ll keep you updated!

Snow
February 27, 2009

Sorry we haven’t posted an update sooner.  Chuck and I are the ones that handle the blog.  Chuck is off this week and I didn’t have a chance to update until now.  And what an update it is!!
We’ve got some heavy snow pushing into the viewing area right now.  It’s an interesting system to say [...]

February T’Storms and February Snow
February 26, 2009

Over the course of just a couple days we’re looking for some February snow and, of course, this morning we saw some February thunderstorms and hail.
The storms themselves were fairly weak, but were just strong enough to create 3/4″ in a few spots in the viewing area.  The rain came down strong in these thunderstorms [...]

Waiting for Warmth…
February 21, 2009

I think the little snowstorm we had right before Valentine’s Day and the couple of days of “warm” weather have given people are real bad case of Spring fever.  It’s 29 degrees today and people are freaking out about how cold it was.  Even I stood outside thinking,” Wow, it’s way too cold out here.” [...]

Another Shot of Cold Air
February 18, 2009

After a couple of days with at or above average temperatures… we’re getting hit with another round of winter weather this Wednesday.  Gusty northwest winds… on top of that… makes it feel even colder.  Look for afternoon temps today to hang out in the upper 20s… with wind chill values (“feels-like” temps) to remain in [...]

Lots Of Melting
February 16, 2009

While our temperatures will still be typical for mid-February the next couple of days… look for quite of a bit of the snow that fell on Friday to be melting away.  The “average” high is around 38… and that’s the ballpark we’ll be in for the next couple of days.  The melting snow could also set [...]

Snow is done…
February 14, 2009

Of course, the snow is done.  It came to an end between 3 and 4 Friday afternoon after giving the area some decent accumulations.  You can get all of the reported amounts at this link here.
Looks like we’ll stay in a more active weather pattern, but I don’t expect anymore snows like we got on [...]

Winter Storm Update
February 13, 2009

After struggling to overcome alot of dry air in the atmosphere… the metro’s first significant snowstorm of the season is finally producing some accumulation.  In some cases… the snowfall rates have been fairly high… running at 1 to 2 inches per hour.  As of 10am… downtown Omaha has picked up around 1.5 inches of snow… [...]

Oh Snow..
February 12, 2009

I’m hanging out at home, but I thought I would write a quick update about what we can expect for tomorrow.  Make sure you tune into Bill Randby tonight for the latest though.
With that said, we are under a winter storm warning for the snow tomorrow.  I expect a good swath of 4 to 8 [...]

An End To (our taste of) Spring
February 11, 2009

After topping out in the 50s and 60s for five out of the last six days… we’ll be seeing temperatures more typical of mid-February as we head toward the upcoming weekend.  While our highs in the mid-40s today and tomorrow are technically still above average… it’s still around 15 degrees cooler than the start of [...]
