A Chance of Rain as Fall Begins

We’ve got a few rain chances over the next couple of days.  As mentioned previously, Autumn officially begins at 10:44am Monday.  Now, just to be clear, this is the “astronomical” Fall.  The meteorological fall began on September 1.  In meteorology, when we put together statistics and such we use three month periods for the seasons (Sept/Oct/Nov is Fall, March, Apr, May is Spring, etc).  However, when it comes to the angle of the sun’s rays… it’s a bit different.  At the Spring and Autumnal Equinox, the suns rays are exactly straight on the equator.  In the Winter and Summer solstice, the rays are exactly straight on the tropics of capricorn and cancer.  Hope that all makes sense…

We’ll see a chance of rain Monday morning thanks to an upper level disturbance.  However, as we head through the day on Monday the chance of rain will decrease and we’ll see some sunshine before the sun sets.  It will be windy on Monday, with wind gusts out of the south around 30mph at times, so be prepared for that.  Temps will be in the low 80s, which will be the rule over the next week in our area…

The rain chances continue for the next few days.  They exist Tuesday morning, Tuesday afternoon, and Wednesday as well.  The best chance of rain exist tomorrow morning and late in the day on Tuesday.  None of these chances are overly great though, so don’t go changing plans at this time.. just pay close attention to the forecast if your event or plans are weather dependent.

After Wednesday, we dry out for Thursday through Sunday.  A few clouds and warm temps will be the rule for Saturday at Memorial Stadium.  No rain in the forecast there.

Cheers,
John
