Seasonable Weather
September 30, 2008

Now this is more typical of the end of September… morning temperatures in the 40s… highs in the lower 70s… and dry.  If you like the weather this Tuesday… you’ll be happy all week long as we don’t see any changes until the weekend.
Speaking of the upcoming weekend… we’ll see clouds on the increase Saturday… [...]

A Different Week…
September 29, 2008

Last week’s weather was unseasonably warm… with highs in the 80s.  Look for much more seasonable weather this week… with highs generally in the lower to mid 70s.
Our cooler temps are a result of a cold front that slid across the area early Monday morning.  Along and ahead of that front… thunderstorms rolled through the metro.  [...]

Watching the Weather
September 28, 2008

It’s been an interesting month of September.  In the first half of the month, (the first to the 15th) we averaged 71.6 degrees for a high.  However, in the second half (16th to the 28th) we averaged 81.5 degrees.  So… in the second half of September we saw average highs 10 degrees warmer than the [...]

A Rainy Day Is A Monday
September 22, 2008

While most folks don’t like to see rain on Monday mornings… we could certainly use it right now.  We haven’t seen measurable moisture in the metro since the 13th… or almost 10 days ago.  This morning’s rain (which could end up being more than half an inch) will be welcome for area lawns and gardens.  [...]

A Chance of Rain as Fall Begins
September 21, 2008

We’ve got a few rain chances over the next couple of days.  As mentioned previously, Autumn officially begins at 10:44am Monday.  Now, just to be clear, this is the “astronomical” Fall.  The meteorological fall began on September 1.  In meteorology, when we put together statistics and such we use three month periods for the seasons [...]

Something a Tad More Interesting…
September 20, 2008

Last night I made the comment that it’s been pretty boring as far as the weather is concerned… Sunny and 70s… all week long.  I feel like I’m a meteorologist in San Diego (do they have those?!?  I mean, real meteorologists…)  Anyway, things are starting to change now.  That’s not necessarily a good thing, but [...]

Final Week Of Summer
September 16, 2008

It’s almost ironic that our final week of summer (fall “officially” begins next Monday at 10:44am local time) will actually feel like late summer.  I say that because much of the past couple of weeks have felt more like October.  Nevertheless… we’ll see highs generally around 80 through the upcoming weekend.
Perhaps one drawback to our [...]

A String Of Nice Days…
September 15, 2008

After a chilly end to the weekend… with highs Sunday only in the 60s (and gusty northwest winds making it feel even cooler)… we’re also starting the work-week on a cool note.  Look for temps on Monday morning to be in the lower 40s.  Nevertheless… lots of sunshine will let us quickly warm into the [...]

Becoming Quiet..
September 13, 2008

We’re pretty much done with the rain.  Today will be dry… after the rain left us last night.  We’ve seen off an on sun, now more sun than anything else.
There are some changes in store for Sunday.  There is a very slight chance of some light rain or showers to the north of Omaha on [...]

A Wet Patriot Day
September 11, 2008

With September 11th being Patriot Day… there are several outdoor activities planned around the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro.  Unfortunately… it looks like much of our Thursday morning will be rainy… with even an isolated thunderstorm possible.  I expect a break from the rain around mid-day… with a chance of showers redeveloping by late afternoon.
Our rain today [...]
