Enjoy the Weekend
May 31, 2008

Two days in the 80s?  Two days with only limited possibilities of seeing a raindrop?  Lots of sunshine?  What’s going on?  Is this Hawaii?  Nope.  It’s Iowa.  And Nebraska.
This morning… portions of the viewing area are dealing with some flooding problems.  Up until today, we’ve had nine straight days at Eppley reporting at least 0.01″ [...]

Flash Flood Watch
May 25, 2008

Another day… another chance for thunderstorms and severe weather.  Considering what other spots in the country have dealt with, it’s been amazingly quiet for us here in Omaha and Eastern Nebraska.  We had a good setup for a tornado yesterday, but we stayed on the lucky side and the thunderstorms that did develop fell apart [...]

T’Storm Chances Continue…
May 24, 2008

It’s been a wet period in our area… Yesterday, we got over 1″ of rain.  We’ve already seen just under a third of an inch Saturday morning.  Not only has it been wet… but is anyone else tired of t’storms waking people up in the middle of the night?  It’s driving me crazy… and my [...]

Wet Weekend…
May 23, 2008

After several dry days… we’ve seen rain for a couple of nights… and there’s more on the way.  We could see rain overnight Friday… Saturday evening/night… then again on Sunday and Memorial Day.  I didn’t even mention Tuesday… but I think that you’ve already gotten the point.
As of Friday evening… we’ve received 9.17″ of precipitation [...]

Bringing the Nice Weather With Me…
May 18, 2008

After a much needed and enjoyable vacation, I return to Omaha to find some nice weather.  It’s much appreciated.  I was in San Antonio and experienced some good weather… and some hot weather.  Almost died of dehydration after getting lost with no water while running in the late morning (Note to Self: That was stupid.)  [...]

Warm-Up Still On Track…
May 16, 2008

Our average/normal high temperatures this time of year are in the mid-70s.  On Friday… we topped out above that… as most locations saw highs in the upper 70s.  If you liked that… then the odds are that you’ll also enjoy the next several days.
Highs are expected to remain in the upper 70s and lower 80s [...]

Finally… A REAL Warm-Up
May 15, 2008

Now… I personally haven’t minded the cooler than average weather.  I had enough of the heat last summer… plus the lower electric bills (due to a quiet air conditioner) are helpful to everyone’s budgets at this time.
But… there have been grumbling by some (maybe many) about a yearning for warmer weather.  For those folks… this forecast’s [...]

A Chilly Mother’s Day
May 11, 2008

At least the rain has ended… with Omaha officially receiving .76″ of rainfall on Saturday.  But… in its place… gusty northwest winds blew across the metro Saturday night and early Sunday morning.  The strongest wind gust I saw reported for Omaha was 47 mph… with a 53 mph wind gust down in Lincoln.  Those winds [...]

A Chilly… Soggy Start To The Weekend
May 10, 2008

We saw our first round of rain… mostly light… move through the metro early Saturday morning.  I expect more showers… and even a few thunderstorms… to develop during Saturday afternoon and last through the evening.  Indeed… some computer models are hinting that we could pick up more than an inch of rain from the evening [...]
