A Little Rain
July 29, 2007

We got a little rain during the night and morning Sunday. Some spotsdefinitely got more than others, but any rain… a drop or two… isgood for our farmers and our yards. (However, a lot of rain would be alot better!)
Here are the rainfall totals:

I think some of the clouds that we saw on Sunday are [...]

Varied Rain Amounts
July 28, 2007

Hey Friends,
Well it did rain over the Omaha metro and parts of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa Friday morning, but my projection of .25″ to .50″ was certainly not right for everywhere. La Vista and “West O” received more. Such is the way with thunderstorms. I was thinking that on the whole .25″ to .50″ [...]

Hoping for Rain and The Next Best Chance
July 26, 2007

Folks,
A front is a strange thing. Sometimes they douse us with rain and sometimes they move through dry. Right now, a “cool front” lies across northwest and north central Nebraska. This front could produce some thunderstorms across this area and eastward along the border with South Dakota through tonight. A few severe storms are possible [...]

Fluke Funnels and Rain Bingo
July 25, 2007

Hi Friends,
This past Monday was a strange day at least “weather-wise.” A decent complex of storms moved from Central Iowa to Southeast Nebraska (moving NE to SW) completely missing Omaha and areas north of about Nebraska City. Later it cleared out and turned into an extremely humid and warm day. A weak boundary between some [...]

Neat Picture
July 23, 2007

This picture was snapped by Erica Obermeier down in Auburn, Nebraska just a few minutes after 7pm. That’s a funnel clouds coming out the backside of a thunderstorm there. The storms were elevated in nature, so the funnel cloud posed no threat the ground and no tornado warning was issued. Cool picture though…

Cheers,John

Hoping for Rain…
July 22, 2007

Since June 1st, Eppley airfield is 5.07″ below normal for rainfall. Needless to say, it’s been a bit dry. We’re hoping to get a little rain on Monday… unfortunately, it won’t help out the current drought situation…
There are a few showers and thunderstorms stretching from Lincoln southeast toward the Nebraska/Kansas border. [...]

More Summer Coming…
July 21, 2007

It was definitely an enjoyable day across the metro on Saturday. However, it doesn’t look like that trend is going to continue for Sunday. There’s a weak stationary front in the area (responsible for 0.01″ of rain at Eppley this morning) and it also kept us from getting into the upper 80s for [...]

Reprieve From The Heat
July 20, 2007

Today is fabulous! Low humidity levels and pleasant temps in the 80’s courtesy of Canadian high pressure.
This weekend may feature some low clouds each morning, but generally some sun should make an appearance each day. Tomorrow does look like it will feature more low clouds than Sunday and thus, won’t be quite as nice a [...]

The Rain Came and Went
July 19, 2007

Well we finally got some of the rain that we sorely needed. It was really a long time coming! A complex of storms moved south out of northeast Nebraska and finally wet the very parched conditions that had been worsening for about 45 days now, basically since the very beginning of June.
Overnight and into this [...]

What A Difference a Few Miles Makes
July 15, 2007

We’re still looking at the possibility for the hot weather on Monday and Tuesday (and beyond, but let’s talk about these two days first). Unfortunately for me, the hot weather is not a 100% certain. I know… I know… yesterday I said it was, but I’m doubting myself right now. Here’s why…
A “cold” front (in [...]
