The Return of my Alter Ego
August 29, 2006

After two weeks of doing weather, I’m returning to the other side of my job. That would be reporting the news. Today I talked with the fire department about dealing with vacant home fires. At this point they don’t think they are related, but there have been fires in vacant homes August 17, 25, 27, [...]

Rain Chances Still There…
August 27, 2006

Unlike last time, the rain chances continue to show up in the forecast. I think the best chance looks to be tonight.
Again, this rain isn’t what a lot of people are used to hearing us talk about. Instead of a cold front and a warm front in the area bringing rain chances… there’s actually an [...]

For those hoping..
August 27, 2006

For those hoping for rain… the latest run of the ETA model continues its deluge of Omaha. Giving us about 1.58″ of rain. In the end, I’m almost certain we’ll get rain, but I’m not 100% certain we’ll get that much. My confidence is boosted though after this latest run.
Cheers,John

Gettin’ It Right
August 27, 2006

No rain on Saturday… that was definitely disappointing. Especially considering how much of a sure bet it looked like on Wednesday. It’s situations like that it’s tough to be someone that predicts the future. Contrary to popular belief, I put more effort than a flip of the coin… unless I run out of time… then [...]

OH No! Rain!
August 23, 2006

We’ve been talking about the possibility of rain for rain on Thursday and Friday and I’ve been mentioning the possibility for rain Saturday morning. Scratch all of that… the new model runs are in and there are big changes to the forecast.
It’s always frustrating when something like this happens, because there was really no good [...]

The Heat Returns
August 22, 2006

After a nice break from the annoying heat and humidity. It’s making a return, just in time for kids to go back to school. I really wouldn’t be surprised to see some schools release early Wednesday and Thursday because of the heat. I’m not saying they will, just saying they might. The schools that still [...]

Top 10 Day!
August 20, 2006

Unless we touched 80 degrees between hours, I think we’ve got ourselves a Top 10 Day here in Omaha today. Light winds, temperatures in the 70s, low humidity, and some sun. The only drawback was the amount of sunshine… I’d like to see more for a Top 10 Day Seal of Approval. However, how many [...]

A Cloudy and Cool Day
August 19, 2006

Sometimes when I sit to write an entry, I have no idea what to type.
The weather right now isn’t overly interesting and I’ve talked plenty about the rain that we’ve had over the past few weeks. High pressure taking control today and tomorrow are to blame for the nice and tranquil weather. I’ve also talked [...]

Working Hard… Or Hardly Working?
August 19, 2006

It’s the former, I assure you. That’s why I’ve been a little absent in the whole keeping up with the whole blog thing. I promise I’ll try and be a little more diligent in the work.
I’ve gotten the chance to fill in for Chief Meteorologist Bill Randby while he’s off work. It’s always great doing [...]

Going Along Well…
August 16, 2006

We’re in line for more rain tonight and the next few days. This system has a lot of moisture to work with too, so any rain that we do get will be very heavy at times. Rain chances will be possible not only this evening and tonight but also on Thursday and [...]
